Spotlighting Holly, Branch Manager - Career story
We recently caught up with Holly, Branch Manager at our Sturminster Newton Store, who shared her career progression story with us. Read more below:
'I started working in Weymouth Screwfix when I was 17 as a 12-hour sales assistant. The flexibility offered was great as they worked my shifts around the course I was studying at college, travel, and tourism.
At this point in my life, I never considered Screwfix a career option. But the support and guidance I had from my managers pushed me out of my comfort zone and supported me into my first management role one year later. The first steps programme taught me so many skills both personally and professionally.
I then transferred my skills in 2015 to manage the trade plus counter in Weymouth. I loved supporting my small team and encouraging them to grow. The Trade Supervisor and Co-ordinator roles really pushed me to develop myself even further. I began coaching and supporting my peer stores as well as my own team!
Fast forward 7 years later and I have successfully managed two stores, Blandford Forum, where I really established myself as a senior leader. In my most recent role, I am the store manager of the newly opened store Sturminster Newton.
I was so apprehensive and excited to open a new store but the support from my Area Manager and peers really gave me the encouragement and support I needed.
Screwfix are open to new ideas and opportunities for all, and I am proud to be an Ambassador for Female representation at Screwfix for my Area.'
